Will Russell Wilson Request A Trade? | Sports Takes & News | TooAthletic.com
As the NFL offseason continues, Seattle’s Russell Wilson continues to share his unhappiness and displeasure with the Seahawks to the media. There have been leaks that the Super Bowl winning quarterback has had his suggestions for improving the team’s offense dismissed by the coaching staff, and now Wilson appears poised to request a trade from Seattle this offseason. Will Russell Wilson ask for a trade from the Seahawks, and if he does, will Seattle grant his wish?
There seems to be two kinds of quarterbacks in the NFL this offseason, those who have requested a trade and those who might be replaced by those who are traded to their team. As the battle grows between Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans, it appears that a new battle is brewing in the Pacific Northwest as Russell Wilson continues to voice his unhappiness with his lack of involvement in weekly game planning.
It is also being reported that no one has any power over Pete Carroll with the head coach becoming his own boss in the organization. The result, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, is that Wilson may soon request a trade.
As reports surfaced on Friday that more than 10 NFL teams have called the Seahawks with interest in making a deal, this tinderbox appears ready to ignite before the new league year begins later this month. Wilson, it appears, is ready to accept a trade to Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, or the Saints, with the mayor of New Orleans already courting both the quarterback and his wife Ciara to replace Drew Brees down in the Bayou next season.
I have been hearing the rumors on the streets. I don't know if they are true or not. But, I just want @dangerusswilson & @ciara to know that if these rumors are true. Please know that the City of New Orleans will welcome you and your family with open arms! #nola #whodat pic.twitter.com/yE1MJYssLS

Dallas, on the other hand, seems to have no interest in Wilson for Dak Prescott swap anytime soon.
Is this really what the NFL has come to when dealing with their quarterbacks? Have teams handed over all their ability to run their franchise as they see fit, and when the QB doesn’t like every single thing the front office or coaching staff does, they can pack up and demand to go to a new team at the drop of their helmet?
I truly hope that someone is saving these internet stories about Russell Wilson running out of meetings with coaches, because they didn’t like his ideas. I hope that they are being saved not for Wilson to read again one day, but for his children, since the quarterback is really setting a “wonderful” example for how to handle disagreements. It will be a lot of fun when one day the Wilson kids come home from school and ask to be transferred to a new school because they disagree with their teachers.
Russell Wilson can dislike Pete Carroll or how the Seahawks allow him to run the football operations all he wants; but does he really think things will be different with the Bears, Raiders or Saints? Sean Payton has been an offensive “god” for years despite only winning one Super Bowl, and while he might be smart enough to involve Wilson in the game plan, at the end of the day, it will be Payton’s way or the highway with any quarterback who replaces Drew Brees.
I doubt the Seahawks will want to trade Russell Wilson and won’t be talked into doing it without getting a premium package back in return. What Wilson needs to understand, however, is that things will likely stay the same or get worse if he leaves Seattle, something he doesn’t believe yet as players and politicians court the quarterback and his family to join their team.
Go ahead Mr. Wilson, ask for a trade, and kiss your Super Bowl dreams goodbye forever. because chances are you will go to a team that will never be as good as Seattle has been, and you will regret this emotional, impulsive decision for the rest of your time in the NFL.
