Minnesota Golden Gophers offensive tackle Daniel Faalele scored a rushing touchdown in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl against the West Virginia Mountaineers.
The Guaranteed Rate Bowl took place at Chase Field in Phoenix, Az., with the Minnesota Golden Gophers taking on the West Virginia Mountaineers. Minnesota got on the board first, thanks to a creative play call.
With the Golden Gophers just two yards short of the end zone near the start of the second quarter, quarterback Tanner Morgan handed the ball off to 6-foot-9, 380-pound offensive tackle Daniel Faalele. The play was successful, as Faalele broke through the line of scrimmage and ran over the plan to put the Golden Gophers ahead.

A big man touchdown was scored in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl!
Minnesota went up 8-0 after a run by Brock Annexstad on the two-point conversion attempt. West Virginia answered back on the following drive. On the 12th-play, Mountaineers quarterback Jarret Doege reached the end zone on a one-yard touchdown run. West Virginia failed on their two-point conversion attempt, leaving them trailing 8-6.
Faalele’s touchdown will be remembered as one of the many highlights of the 2021 college football bowl season.
