Watch Baylor fans storm football field to celebrate national championship

Baylor basketball fans watching the game at McLane Stadium stormed the football field to celebrate the Bears national championship victory.

We’re used to seeing fans storm the field to celebrate a football victory. But what about a basketball win?

When Baylor won the national title over Gonzaga on Monday night, fans who watched the game at McLane Stadium in Waco did what was natural.

They stormed the field.

The fans had plenty to celebrate. The players got to most out of their moment.

Baylor’s performance in the national championship was worthy of field storming

Baylor came out of the gates in the national title game on an absolute tear. They jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back. With Gonzaga playing catchup, the Bears kept their foot on the gas and drove to victory.

The title is Baylor’s first-ever in basketball. They got there by blowing out just about every opponent they faced. No. 16 seed Hartford went down easily. No. 9 seed Wisconsin followed. Then it was No. 5 seed Villanova and No. 3 seed.

In the Final Four, while Gonzaga was taken to the limit by UCLA, Baylor smashed No. 2 seed Houston to smithereens.

The matchup of No. 1 seeds to end the season was expected to be an intriguing battle. Instead, the Bears took all the drama out of it. They came out emphatic 86-70 winners.

The fans in the stands at McLane Stadium only had to wait for the victory to be confirmed.

The only downer to the moment was knowing a global pandemic is still ongoing. Hopefully, everyone who attended the event and stormed the field was responsible about washing hands, wearing masks and protecting themselves and others.
