UFC Vegas 49: Who is Ramona Pascual?

Ramona Pascual steps in last minute looking to build on an impressive victory.

Bobby Green is stepping into a huge test on short notice at UFC Vegas 49. Days after his impressive victory at UFC 271, Green is now facing Islam Makhachev in the main event two weeks later. Green is not the only fighter looking to continue riding a wave of momentum. Ramona Pascual is making her UFC debut earlier that evening and a big win will help catch the attention of fans and matchmakers out the gate.

With six years of professional experience under her belt, Pascual is making her first appearance in the Octagon. She’s stepping in on short notice after signing with the UFC quickly after her recent outing. At Invicta FC 45, she stopped Shamir Peshewa in exactly one minute with knees to the body, followed by punches.

Before that victory, Pascual was competing across the regional circuit in Asia. Her professional record sits at 6-2, which includes a four-fight win streak. All but one of her victories ended before the final bell, including four knockouts.

Josiane Nunes welcomes Pascual into the promotion.

Josiane Nunes is also looking to build on the momentum of her last fight. She made her UFC debut back in August when she defeated Bea Malecki in the first round. Her seventh straight win pushed her overall record to 8-1. Nunes had two previous opponents scheduled for this fight at UFC Vegas 48, most recently Jennifer Gonzalez who was released shortly after signing with the company.

Nunes and Pascual will meet at 145-pounds, but both women are planning to head back to 135-pounds where their careers originally kicked off.

UFC Vegas 49: Islam Makhachev vs. Bobby Green takes place on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, live from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided MMA, who is on-site, for all your news and highlights.
