Twitter reacts to Chicago Bears’ Justin Fields replacing injured Andy Dalton

Twitter was ruthless on Sunday after Chicago Bears starting QB Andy Dalton suffered injury and was replaced by Justin Fields.

The trending theme in Week 2 of the NFL’s regular season is unfortunately injuries. And that’s certainly something that should never be celebrated, but that’s just what Chicago Bears fans and Twitter did on Sunday after Andy Dalton suffered a knee injury and was replaced by rookie Justin Fields.

I get it, both Chicago Bears fans and fans of the game want to see Fields at quarterback. He’s young, exciting and exactly what the Bears needed after drafting Mitch Trubisky at No. 2 in 2017. However, injuries are easily the worst part of the game and regardless of how anyone feels about a certain player, they are never a cause for celebration.

I’m looking at you, Twitter.

Today’s game was personal for Dalton as it was an opportunity for him to get a win versus the Cincinnati Bengals, a team that he spent nine years playing for. The league has seen plenty of Andy, but praising Fields at his expense makes no sense.

I’m sure that Fields was ready to step-in and accept the challenge of leading Chicago’s offense, but that he wasn’t happy about it happening at Dalton’s expense. Perhaps Twitter and Bears fans need a lesson on decorum. It’s all fun and games until it’s not.
