Bad news everyone: there is only one more football game this season. Good news: college basketball is in full swing and we have a month to do our research for March Madness. With my birthday being the other day, I am another year wiser (so they say) and I am ready to look at the board today for some gambling plays!
We got a full-slate of college basketball today that features 17 ranked teams in action, the Big 12-SEC Challenge, and a huge in-state rivalry in the ACC. There is also a lack of Pac-12 after dark this week, but we do got a game on the island for some late night action. Once again, I’ll give you 5 picks that I really like today, let’s hop into the picks:
*Note/Disclaimer: I am not a gambling genius. Please take my picks with a side of caution, and please bet responsibly. Also, these are lines from my site, so they might be a bit different.*
Big 12-SEC Challenge PARLAY: Florida/WVU O146, Texas Tech ML, Missouri ML (+260)
I’m starting my day off with a parlay that pays out pretty well with the 3 games at 2:00 in the Big 12-SEC challenge. Florida and West Virginia can score, and have been scoring recently with Florida averaging 77 points per game in their last 5 games and West Virginia is averaging 78 points. Texas Tech is on the road at LSU and this should be a fun one to watch. LSU is 8-1 at home this season and surprising a lot of people with their ability to score this season. Both of these teams have been losing recently to some good teams, but I like Tech’s experience in this one, and Missouri should have no problems with TCU at home, despite being on the list.
Villanova and Seton Hall OVER 142 Points (-107)
This one seems a little low to me as both teams are averaging over 75 points per game, what does Vegas know? When these two teams played 11 days ago, the score was 76-74 which has this over hitting with a little cushion. In the last 5 games, Villanova is averaging 81 points per game and Seton Hall is a rollercoaster offense but can still score. With this game being in Seton Hall, I expect them to make this a good game and in a position to win, but a lot of points will be scored.
Virginia Tech ML (+170) vs. Virginia
The long-awaited matchup is finally here in the ACC, Virginia going 2 hours down the road to their in-state rival, Virginia Tech. Both of these teams are in the top 3 in the ACC standings, so this is a critical win for either team. I’m going with the home cooking on this one with Tech, who is known for some big upsets at home each year. Tech should be able to put up some points on UVA’s defense as VT averages 72.5 points per game shooting 44% from the floor, if they can shoot 45 or above, they will win this game and solidify their place in ACC contenders.
Kansas (+3) @ Tennessee (-107)
Another head-scratcher for me, what does Vegas know? Sure, Kansas lost 3 in a row and then they struggled at home against TCU winning 59-51, but it’s the Kansas Jayhawks. If I can trust a team to bounce back and win a big game on the road, it’s Kansas. Tennessee started off hot too, but have lost 2 of their last 3 games and struggled in their one win at home against Mississippi State 56-53, so both teams are basically coming into this game the same way. And, once again, I’m putting my trust in Kansas. Debating hedging with a UVA-Tenn Parlay.
UC Irvine (-3) @ Hawaii (-107)
It’s really a shame Hawaii doesn’t have a deal with one of the networks to air their games, we all need something to watch at midnight on a Saturday night, and beautiful shots of Hawaii and watching a sport is exactly what we need. The Anteaters of UC Irvine are the best team in the conference and usually a top choice for a 13-seed upset in March Madness. The Anteaters are rocking a 5-0 conference record and just beat Hawaii 53-51 last night. That’s an outlier to their recent games, I’ll blame the jet lag and being in Hawaii. Now, I expect the Anteaters to dominate this game. Before last night, UC Irvine’s average margin of victory in their previous 4 games was 17.5 points. This game could be ugly.
