A fight over two years’ in the making ends with a one-sided, dominant victory for Robert Whittaker over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Vegas 24, who made a statement as he looks to win back the UFC middleweight championship.

The two started the fight by trading, with Gastelum trying to pressure his way into taking control of the fight, even throwing while on his back foot. Gastelum, however, appeared to be briefly stunned by a one-two followed into a head kick by Whittaker in the first.
Gastelum continued to try and walk Whittaker down in round two but Whittaker continued to beat him around using just his jab and scoring takedowns when possible. Gastelum looked for the takedown in the third round, but Whittaker’s defense was strong and made Gastelum pay, catching him inside and out.
Whittaker continued his pace over the final two rounds en route to sweeping the judges’ scorecards with 50-45s.
Whittaker, who has now won three straight, feels like he’s ready to challenge Israel Adesanya in a rematch after losing the UFC 185-pound belt to him at UFC 243.
Adesanya, in fact, had a response at the ready for who could turn about to be his next foe.
