Raush Manfio eliminates Anthony Pettis with narrow decision win

Raush Manfio scores the biggest win of his career, eliminating Anthony Pettis in upset fashion and clinching a lightweight playoff spot at PFL 6

Despite being arguably the biggest free-agent signing the Professional Fighters League (PFL) made for the 2021 season, Anthony Pettis will not be partaking in the lightweight playoffs. Pettis dropped a split decision to Raush Manfio in the co-main event of PFL 6.

Pettis came out seemingly with a fire under him, as he looked quicker in his footwork and crisper in his striking, as he brought the pressure to Manfio in the opening five minutes.

Manfio seemed to get a better hold on things in the second round, though Pettis started connecting harder and busted up Manfio’s face a bit.

Manfio, however, rocked Pettis with a one-two combination early in the third round, and he rocked Pettis soon after again with a swarm of strikes, as well as a knee. Pettis would recover, but Manfio held control for just about the entirety of the final frame.

Pettis got a 29-28 score in his favor from one judge, but the other two gave 29-28 scores and the fight to Manfio.

PFL 6 takes place on Friday, June 25, 2021, live from the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. Follow along with FanSided for all your live news and highlights.
