Following the pandemic and out of necessity we have all become massive content consumers, after reviewing the many options available I decided that the best one for me is Netflix, and really do we need anything more? Netflix offers original movies of every genre, original television series and so much more. My personal favorites; Bridgerton, Dead to Me, Virgin River, and Ginny & Georgia. Here are some stunning stats on Netflix viewership; According to Kill the Cable Bill’s calculations, Netflix users are watching an average of about 3.2 hours of Netflix video per day on the streaming platform, compared to an average of 2 hours per day in 2019. The outlet predicts that there are 63.7 million Netflix users in the United States, meaning Netflix users in the U.S. are watching a total of 203.8 million hours of Netflix per day of quarantine.
If so, that means users in the U.S. are watching a total of 6.1 billion hours of Netflix per month of quarantine. That is nearly 700,000 years!
Today’s Netflix series review is Bridgerton, the mammoth hit that premiered in December 2020 and we now thankfully know that it has been renewed for a second season. I came to the party late, and for some reason that I cannot quite come up with I chose not to watch until now.
The eight-part series is the first of many creations by the unstoppable force that is Shonda Rhimes (Greys Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder), writer, director, producer, and creator. After reading so many wonderful reviews on social media I thought why not see what all the fuss is about. After watching the first episode I was addicted and did not stop until I had finished watching the entire season in two sittings and craving more (season 2 will premiere December 2021) and is that captivating and engaging.
Based on Julia Quinn’s first novel “The Duke & I: Bridgerton is set in London in the early 1800s and depicts the competitive world of Regency-era London during the season when debutantes are presented at court to secure a suitable match. The main storyline revolves around the entire Bridgerton family as well as the budding relationship between Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings. Bridgerton is scandalous, sexy, and gossipy. What more do you need, how about hot leading characters, spectacular costumes, and breathtaking sets?
Bridgerton will keep you on the edge of your seat and thinking that relationships between men and women are not all that different today than they were so many years ago.
I will not divulge anymore because I want you to watch and decide for yourself.
