Job Description
Seeking Music Director
Salary: 17,000 to 20,000 based on skills, education, and experience
Part-time (15-18 hrs/wk)
JOB SUMMARY: Selects, prepares and executes church music including preludes, postludes, hymns, and anthems for worship services on Sundays and/or other major festivals (e.g., Christmas, Easter, Pentecost). Recruits and trains choir and musical talent of all ages. Develops annual plans for congregational music program expenditures and submits these to the Priest. Maintains music les. Monitors musical equipment for repairs and tuning and reports status to vestry and Priest. Seeks, secures, and supports occasional visiting musical talent to enhance congregational worship experience.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Priest in Charge or Rector
QUALIFICATIONS: College degree in music or equivalent in private musical training and experience. Ability to play organ professionally and maintain church piano and organ. Ability to train voices, conduct chorus and direct bell choir. Good communication skills. Flexibility and willingness to play Anglican traditional and contemporary music.
EXPERIENCE: Prior church music experience is helpful. Organ and choral experience are essential.
