All the information you need to know about the Kentucky Derby 2021.
For the 147th time, the Kentucky Derby will run.
The first leg of the Triple Crown is slated to take place on Saturday, and with the legalization of gambling in many states the Kentucky Derby 2021 will perhaps be one of the most-watched races in the history of the event.
If it seems like we just saw the Kentucky Derby, it’s because we did. The global pandemic caused by COVID-19 pushed last year’s Derby from the first Saturday in May to the first Saturday in September. It was weird, and it barely feels like it counts but it did.
This year we get a return to a bit of normalcy. America raced to vaccinate as many people as it could starting last month and the result has been a turning of the corner in the pandemic. Where last year’s race needed to be moved four months, this year’s festivities will be back in action as scheduled.
Furthermore, the return to normalcy will include the likes of an audience, which means mint juleps and crazy hats just like we’re used to.
