While Indian artists have been rare on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, Nautiyal and Hashmi are not complete outliers, as “Lut Gaye” is the third song by Indian acts to debut on the survey in the last three weeks, and the fourth in five weeks. All feature singing in Hindi.
One of those songs, “Saiyaan Ji,” by Yo Yo Honey Singh, featuring the aforementioned Kakkar, lingers on the current Global Excl. U.S. chart at No. 120. A week ago, it became only the second song by Indian artists to appear on the Global 200, with a No. 188 entrance.
The first appearance by an Indian act on the Global Excl. U.S. chart occurred on the inaugural Sept. 19 edition, via Puri’s “Cono” with Jason Derulo (from the U.S.), Jhorrmountain and ADJE (both from the Netherlands).
