Jordan Young secures an incredible comeback with KO of Omari Akhmedov at the 2021 PFL Championship.
PFL light heavyweight Jordan Young earned one of the greatest comebacks you’ll ever see during the undercard of the 2021 PFL Championship against Omari Akhmedov.
It wasn’t going well for Young early, as he had a real tough time dealing with Akhmedov’s grappling and control on the ground. It looked like Akhmedov was going to coast to a debut win, but Young came out firing in the third and final round.
Akhmedov looked noticeably drained as the third round began, and Young took advantage of it right away. His boxing ended up being the difference in the fight’s final minutes, dealing heavy damage to Akhmedov on the feet.
After a series of hard combinations, Young dropped Akhmedov with a vicious uppercut to earn a remarkable come-from-behind TKO win.

Young’s first season in the PFL didn’t exactly go according to plan in 2021, with a disappointing loss to former UFC fighter Tom Lawlor. Before that, he had an up-and-down career in Bellator before signing with the PFL.
Akhmedov, a former UFC middleweight contender, was making his PFL debut after a long tenure in the UFC. He had competed against the likes of Chris Weidman, Brad Tavares, and others before ultimately signing with the league.
Young’s KO win could go a long way in possibly turning his career around, with plenty of momentum heading into next season. It wasn’t an ideal first season in the league for Young, but he could be a name to watch going forward in the PFL.
The PFL Championships took place on Wednesday, Oct. 27 live from the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, FL. Follow along with FanSided MMA who will be on-site for all your news and highlights.
