Is the Grand Canyon open July 4th?

The Grand Canyon is one of the many majestic sights worth celebrating on the 4th of July, but is the iconic national park open?

This 4th of July, some Americans will stay close to home and enjoy some festivities in their own backyards while watching the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest. Others will look for a bit more adventure than that.

If you’re one of the latter types, a trip to see the Grand Canyon this year could do the trick.

After all, on a day meant to celebrate America, it would be fitting to focus on the gorgeous landscapes that make up this country.

Is Grand Canyon National Park open on July 4th?

Fortunately, the Grand Canyon will be open to the public on Independence Day with access to both the South and North Rims available.

However, this is the busiest time of the year for the national park and holidays only ramp up the visitor count, so come expecting big crowds. There will be many others trying to enjoy one of the great wonders of the USA. Don’t expect to have the place to yourself.

Also, be warned that temperatures are expected to climb into the triple digits this July with the holiday weekend looking particularly toasty. If you want to do some hiking, make sure you get an early start to avoid the heat as much as possible. Bring plenty of water and wear sun protection. You’ll be glad you did.

Entrance fees for 2022 are $35 for vehicles, $30 for motorcycles and $20 for individuals arriving by foot, bicycle, park shuttle bus or on a private rafting trip. You can buy your digital pass online ahead of time or on-site with credit or debit payments only.
