Flyers, Kraken get into epic on-ice brawl

Many hands were thrown during Monday night’s game between the Philadelphia Flyers and Seattle Kraken.

After earning their very first win of their existence on Oct. 14 against the Nashville Predators, the Seattle Kraken lost 2-1 in overtime to the Columbus Blue Jackets two nights later. The Kraken attempted to get back in the win column against the Philadelphia Flyers, head coach Dave Hakstol’s former team, on Monday night.

The Kraken did not score many goals, but they certainly threw some hands. Like in the third period, as Philadelphia center Nate Thompson threw down with Seattle winger Nathan Bastian.

Flyers, Kraken throw hands on Monday night

Bastian was no stranger to getting into scrums on Monday night. Earlier on in the game, Bastian exchange some words with Flyers captain Claude Giroux before the two dropped their sticks and grabbed onto each other. Both team convened at center ice.

But wait, there was more.

Seattle’s Jamie Oleksiak and Philadelphia’s Nick Seeler dropped the gloves and traded right hands before the on-ice official stopped things.

The Flyers went on to defeat the Kraken 6-1. Center Derek Brassard notched three points on the night, two of them coming on assists on goals by Ryan Ellis and Joel Farabee. Seattle’s lone goal scorer was Carson Soucy.

Seattle will have little time to recover from this exhausting game, as they face the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night. As for Philadelphia, they host the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.
