The FBI posted a social media message over the weekend encouraging Americans to report on family members and friends for signs of ‘mobilization’ to ‘homegrown violent extremism.’
“Family members and peers are often best positioned to witness signs of mobilization to violence,” the bureau tweeted. “Help prevent homegrown violent extremism.”
The message includes a link to a 2019 report on how to spot “mobilization indicators” in “homegrown violent extremist(s).”
Journalist Glenn Greenwald shared the FBI’s tweet and captioned it: “Here’s the FBI encouraging people to monitor family members for signs of extremism so that they can ‘report them to the #FBI.’”

FBI Wants You To Rat Out Family Members For Signs Of ‘Violent Extremism’
The 32-page FBI brochure linked on social media is predominantly concerned with Americans being radicalized by foreign entities such as al Qaeda or ISIS.
But the timing is important to note, considering the shift by federal law enforcement officials and politicians in their rhetoric and definition of ‘extremism’ ever since the Capitol protest on January 6th.

However, the document does explain that the indicators can be applied to other groups because the “behaviors … would be troubling regardless of ideological motivation and may warrant contacting law enforcement.”
Getting strong 1980s East German Stasi vibes from the FBI lately.
Totalitarian self-righteousness + encouraging everyone to become a snitch.

Biden Admin Surveilling Americans
The FBI encouraging Americans to report each other for signs of being mobilized to violent extremism comes as Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson has made allegations that the National Security Agency (NSA) has been spying on him.
Carlson reportedly had his name “unmasked” in communications that purportedly sought an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this year.
The NSA has said that it only surveils citizens in “emergency” situations requiring a court order.
“Tucker Carlson has never been an intelligence target of the Agency and the NSA has never had any plans to try to take his program off the air,” they said in a statement.
Now that the explosive claim of the Biden admin spying on Tucker Carlson and leaking against him has been confirmed in multiple ways by Axios, worth remembering how some folks dismissed the possibility. https://t.co/PgPyBBr1kd

Earlier this year, a report surfaced indicating the Biden administration was considering a partnership with private firms to surveil Americans online for alleged “extremist chatter.”
CNN reported in May that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was in discussions to use “outside firms” as a means “to track extremist chatter by Americans online.”
The news outlet wrote that the administration felt hamstrung “in how it can monitor citizens online without justification” and how the DHS was looking at private firms who can access private groups or messaging apps “to circumvent those limits.”
The effort, CNN added, “would expand the government’s ability to gather intelligence but could draw criticism over surveillance of US citizens.”

President Biden announced a new strategy last month to combat ‘domestic terrorism’ in the United States, which would include training for retired service members to avoid radicalization and seeks to root out “insider threats” in the military.
President Biden throughout his career liked to brag that he practically wrote the Patriot Act.
The ACLU describes the Patriot Act as “expanding the authority to monitor phone and email communications, collect bank and credit reporting records, and track the activity of innocent Americans on the Internet.”

Biden has spent the bulk of his first several months in office stating the biggest terrorist threat in the United States is ‘white supremacy.’
