Preview and predictions for UFC 264: Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor 3.
UFC 264 fight week is finally here, and now we find ourselves mere days away from the epic showdown that is the Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor trilogy bout.
The two had their first meeting just under seven years ago, at UFC 178 in September 2014. Both were ranked featherweight rankings, and McGregor took the win in less than two minutes by knockout.
McGregor went on to capture gold at both featherweight and lightweight, becoming the first champ-champ in UFC history. Poirier, meanwhile, moved up to lightweight immediately after the McGregor loss and got back to winning ways, eventually defeating Max Holloway at UFC 236 to become interim lightweight champion.
Who will win the trilogy bout at UFC 264: Dustin Poirier or Conor McGregor?
Poirier and McGregor met again in January at UFC 257. This time, it was Poirier who’d knock out McGregor, becoming the first man to defeat McGregor via KO/TKO.
Now, the two meet to settle the debate of who the better fighter is once and for all.
The co-main event of the evening will see a pair of former welterweight title challengers, Gilbert Burns and Stephen Thompson, squaring off.
The rest of the main card will feature a heavyweight battle between Tai Tuivasa and Greg Hardy, a fight between two bantamweight contenders in Irene Aldana and Yana Kunitskaya and Sean O’Malley welcoming Kris Moutinho to the Octagon.
Let’s dive deeper into this UFC 264 main card.
