Dua Lipa, Glass Animals Rule Historic ARIA Charts

On the new ARIA Singles Chart, Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” enters a fourth cycle at No. 1, ahead of The Kid Laroi’s “Without You” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License,” respectively.

“Heat Waves” topped triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown in January and, in recent days, topped the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart for the first time.

Another artist crowned on a Billboard chart crown for the first time this week is Masked Wolf.  The hip-hop artist is the new leader on Billboard’s Emerging Artist chart thanks to his hit “Astronaut In The Ocean,” which has entered the Top 40 in both the U.S. and U.K.

The Sydney rapper’s viral track cracks the ARIA Top 10 for the first time, rising 11-8.

Following their performance at the 63rd Grammy Awards, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak enter the top bracket in Australia with their Silk Sonic project, as “Leave The Door Open” lifts 13-10.

Blackpink’s Rosé gets her solo career away with a Top 40 entry. Last year, Rosé and her Blackpink bandmates earned a No. 2 peak on the albums survey with The Album, and a Top 10 on the singles survey with “Sour Candy,” their collaboration with Lady Gaga.

Over on the ARIA Albums Chart, Dua Lipa returns to the summit with her sophomore album, Future Nostalgia. It’s an impressive feat for an album that has logged 51 weeks on the chart. Future Nostalgia debuted at No. 2 on the chart in April 2020 and climbed to No. 1 in its third chart week.

Taylor Swift converts her Grammys glory into a chart boost in the land Down Under. Both of Swift’s 2020 albums reenter the Top Ten, with folklore rising 20-7 and evermore improving 14-8. Swift’s folklore won album of the year win at the 2021 Grammys Awards, held in Los Angeles last Sunday.

Finally, the week’s highest new entry on the albums survey belongs to Rob Zombie. The White Zombie founder’s latest solo effort The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy starts at No. 10, for his second consecutive Albums Chart Top Ten appearance.
