Dabo Swinney addressed internet rumors suggesting Justyn Ross and All-ACC DL Tyler Davis will miss the Clemson football game vs. Georgia.
Clemson football is getting ready for the biggest game of college football’s opening weekend, so you can’t blame fans for freaking out over internet rumors concerning three key players.
On Wednesday, Twitter was abuzz with the possibility of star wide receiver Justyn Ross, All-ACC defensive lineman Tyler Davis and team captain Nolan Turner missing the Georgia game on Saturday.
Dabo Swinney addressed Clemson injuries today
Head coach Dabo Swinney was asked specifically about the rumor that Davis is COVID-19 positive. His answer won’t ease the minds of Clemson fans.
“We’re not going to confirm anything other than Saturday. We’ll let everybody know who is available and who’s not,” per Jon Blau of The Post and Courier.
Last season, Swinney had a policy of not revealed who could be out with COVID-19 until game day. That means Davis’ status, and anyone else contact traced, will remain unknown.
Justyn Ross Twitter rumors have fans worried
Swinney’s comments on Ross will inspire much more confidence.
“He’s been excited since day one. He’s been ready to play since Day 1,” Swinney said, per David Hood of TigerNet.com. “He has truly persevered through so much. It’s a blessing to watch him and I am excited to see him have a great year.”
Ross missed all of the 2020 season while recovering from a potentially career-ending neck and spine condition. He had surgery to fix the problem and started a long road back to the football field. Everyone in the college football world should be glad to have him suiting up this fall.
We won’t know for sure if Davis, Turner and Ross will play against Georgia until they take the field. Until then, it’s a waiting game.
