The hits keep coming in for the Kansas City Chiefs defense, as star defensive lineman Chris Jones is now expected to miss Thursday Night Football as well.
With the Kansas City Chiefs already getting dealt the bad news that Willie Gay and L’Jarius Sneed are going to be out to take on the Los Angeles Chargers, a rough update has also come in on star defensive lineman Chris Jones: he’s likely out as well.
Per FanSided NFL Insider Matt Verderame, Jones isn’t expected to suit up for Kansas City on Thursday night due to COVID. Things have just gotten even more complicated for Andy Reid.
Chris Jones missing the Chiefs-Chargers game due to COVID is a big blow for Kansas City
Jones is in the middle of yet another fantastic year for the Chiefs, as he’s posted seven sacks in 11 games. On top of that, the 6-foot-6, 295-pounder has added 20 total tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
With him consistently plugging up holes in the middle and putting plenty of pressure on opposing quarterbacks, he’s been a monster problem for opposing offensive linemen to try and deal with. He’s been a beast for Reid and Co. over the years.
Now, though, Kansas City will have to try and get to Justin Herbert with Jones not on the field. This matchup between KC and Los Angeles is easily one of the best games we’ve got on the schedule this week.
With the Chiefs at 9-4 and the Chargers 8-5, there’s plenty on the line with both of these teams hoping to call themselves the AFC West champs at the end of the regular season. In order for the Chiefs to record a statement win, they’ll have to do so without Sneed, Gay and now Jones not able to make plays.
