Springsteen’s Nov. 14-dated arrest came three weeks after he released his 20th studio album Letter to You, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. With the success of Letter to You, The Boss became the first act with new top five-charting albums in each of the last six decades (1970s, ‘80s, ‘90s, ‘00s, ‘10s and the ‘20s).
He recently appeared in a TV commercial for Jeep that aired during Super Bowl LV on Sunday (Feb. 7). The two-minute clip, titled “The Middle,” features the artist narrating and appearing in the spot, in which he urges the need to find unity and hope in America.
Springsteen’s longtime manager, Jon Landau, told Billboard about their camp’s “spontaneous decision” to finally agree to a commercial because they knew “Bruce could turn this into something special.”
