These five players would be good first-round targets for the Jaguars.

The 2020 season wasn’t one to write home about for the Jacksonville Jaguars but they at least got the top pick in the draft out of it. Landing the top selection ensures a chance at a brighter future in Jacksonville with a generational quarterback prospect available at the top of the board.

The better news for Jaguars’ fans is that they have a second pick in the first round thanks to the Jalen Ramsey trade. That pick falls 25th overall, giving Jacksonville a chance to address two key needs on Day 1 of the draft.

While they won’t become Super Bowl favorites overnight, the Jaguars can aggressively spend in free agency (perhaps a reunion with Allen Robinson is in order) and use their picks wisely to get better. Let’s look at five players who Jacksonville can target in the first round of the draft, beginning with a boost for their defensive line.

5. Jaguars first-round draft targets – DT Levi Onwuzurike

Jacksonville invested a ton of resources in its defense last season but they still could use a big presence at defensive tackle. Taven Bryan has underachieved since being taken in the first round of 2018 while the rest of the depth chart leaves plenty to be desired.

Grabbing Onwuzurike out of Washington makes a lot of sense to upgrade with a three-technique tackle. A solid disruptor in the middle of the line, Onwuzurike can reasonably be expected to play a role on Day 1 and develop into a solid NFL starter.
