The 48m/158ft ketch was built in 1993 at Viareggio and has been restored to her original appearance by her new Italian Owner. The work took place over a five-month period and involved nearly 50 workers from within and outside the shipyard.

Amongst the work done is a repaint for the hull as well as the living areas and part of the cockpit, plus the refurbishment of the engines and replacement of 40% of the teak deck. This latter task involved the specialised skills of the shipyard’s workers as the replacement slats range in length from 4.5-6 metres (14.7-19.7 feet) – a difficult operation made even more complex for sailing yachts compared to motor yachts.

S/Y MORNING GLORY is the first of six Perini Navi vessels undergoing refits at the Livorno and Viareggio facilities ahead of the summer cruising season, and all are expected to be finished within the next couple of weeks.
