1 dead, 7 rescued after Boston Harbor boating accident

Around 3 a.m. the center console boat hit a day marker, officials said.

One person has been confirmed dead and seven others were rescued following a boating accident in the Boston Harbor early Saturday.

At about 3 a.m. a center console boat with eight people on board hit a day marker, “causing all 8 to enter the water,” the U.S. Coast Guard stated.

Seven people were initially rescued and one individual was missing well into Saturday morning. Five of the recovered were transported by Boston EMS to a hospital, Boston Fire said.

By Saturday afternoon, Boston Police reported that the missing individual, believed to be a woman, was recovered from the water and pronounced dead.

The names and ages of the recovered boaters have not been released.

The Boston Police Harbor Unit along with Massachusetts State Police and other agencies responded to the crash.

The Boston Police Department is now investigating and asking the public for information related to the incident.
